PRESS RELEASE
MAKQHAWE MKHWANAZI
In the work I create, I explore how autobiographical expression is a qualitative form of research, with the aim to insert my social experience as a black male into the academic knowledge system.
My practice is informed by writing as form and utilises wire drawings as an equal component of it. This visual writing functions as diary entries, by presenting how wire can express memories that are specific to a time, location and context.
In my work I transfer my lived experience by inserting fragments of indigenous games, how I engage with spaces which further gives insight into my attitude to the reality I occupy.
