Skaftien[the remains] A review of Skaftien 1, 2 & 3 a project by Keleketla! Library Curated by Megan Mace on behalf of ROOM Skaftien [the remains] is a presentation and a survey of a project by the same name (Skaftien), developed and realised by Keleketla! Library. The initiative took place in Johannesburg (23 February 2011, 5 June 2011 & 24 February 2012) consisting of unique funding and project selection structures in support of community based multidisciplinary creative projects. ROOM will present the remnants of each Skaftien experience ranging from shortlisted project proposals, posters, booklets, zines, video documentation and sound among others.Through audience feedback, the presentation will also seek to find what possibilities if any exist and if there is an interest in continuing with the project. During the presentation of Skaftien [the remains], ROOM will launch its Carpet Series programme - an open platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas. It will consist of a series of informal discussions related to each exhibition presented at ROOM whereby a variety of guests will be invited to participate and input in each of the sessions. The overview of Skaftien also coincides with a celebration of the 5-year anniversary of Keleketla! Library. Keleketla! Library is an inter-disciplinary, independent library and media arts project. It was established in 2008 to create access to the use of arts and media strategies as alternative education models and tools.
